Official Partnership + First Batch Donated!

We are proud to share the official partnership of Sandra Smith and Womankind with a special, intimate announcement from Sandra and a pledge to donate at least twenty handmade bags per quarter to shelters These bags provide practical use and serve as a small reminder that they are not alone. Pictured are the first set of 25 bags that were donated this week. Womankind graciously filled the bags with essentials before passing them on.

Backstory

Amid COVID-19, Sandra sought meaningful ways to support survivors in her community. She reached out to Womankind™, offering handmade cotton face masks to the residents and staff in their shelters. Womankind is an NYC-based nonprofit that helps survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault. Originally founded in 1982 by a student at Hunter College's School of Social Work to support Chinese immigrant women, it has since expanded to serve all survivors, offering culturally sensitive services. With offices in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, Womankind provides local, accessible support through shelter, counseling, and advocacy, empowering individuals to heal and rebuild their lives.

As the pandemic eased, Sandra decided to deepen her commitment to supporting the local survivor community by doing what her team does best—creating handmade bags with empowering messages, this time donating them to the residents. Together, Womankind and Sandra Smith find ways to further strengthen their collaboration through special events and donating a portion of sales for limited-run products. They are committed to providing practical support and uplifting messages of hope, ensuring that survivors not only have the essentials but also a reminder that they are never alone on their journey to healing.
